Google & Samsung Challenges Apple & Meta With New Operating System In Mixed Reality(XR)
Google & Samsung have shown much interest into Mixed-Reality(XR) hence they have introduced a new operating system and headset that will compete with other great brands like Apple & Meta.
The two tech frontier, Google & Samsung have crated a collaboration called “One team” where a version of Google’s Android measured for XR. It includes both argumented and virtual reality and also a Samsung-built headset.
This Samsung-built headset is named “Project Moohan” which mean “infinite” in Korean language.

The mixed-reality is still very new and the adoption is unimpressive. Apple released their high-end version pro this year at a price of US$3,499 and it rare to see people using it because of the cost and weight.
Meta has their cheap Virtual Reality headsets and smart glasses which is more successful and this makes the mixed-reality very young and untapped .
The new XR Operating System Google and Samsung are developing will provide a space for big companies or organizations to recreate their own XR devices like that of light weight smart glasses and headsets. This XR will come with advance AI and this will make Android compete well in the smartphone market.

Companies that are already interested in developing device with this new software are Sony group, Lynx and Xreal.
Google’s executive who oversee the Android ecosystem Sameer Samat said “The time for XR is now”. he made it known that Google initially attempted to create Google glass which didn’t. go well because the technology was ahead of head by then but they didn’t give up on XR’s potential.
Sameer Samat added that they see a range of device solving different problems in the ecosystem and android’s flexibility in professional applications, entertainment and gaming.
This android Mixed-Reality system will help combine the real-world and virtual experiences, where one will be able to control actions in a google map easily with a smart glasses.
The system will come with an AI features where user will be able to make real-time decision and contextual guidance with the help of the XR system.
Google & Samsung had already showed their f=first device running the Android XR at the developer event in New York and a Samsung headset is expected to launch 2025.
This device looks like the Apple vision pro with the ability to toggle between VR and AR mode with high-resolution display. The samsung headset is said to be lighter and more comfortable to wear.
One of the most feature of the Samsung headset grabbing attention is being switch between AR and VR modes which end users toggle by double-tapping the side of the headset. This make the end user switch between real-world and virtual reality environment.
The headset allows the user to control with hands and eyes but the user will have to raise their hands to interact with the menu.
This device can make you play a video back with Android’s apps like YouTube, Google Map. Photos and others.
The price of the Samsung headset is hinted to be less than the price of the Apple Vision Pro which US$3,499 even though Samsung has not revealed their price or date yet.
